In our area, there is a place called Dollar General, which has some food
products at substantially lower prices than the main grocery store. For instance, McCormick Cinnamon cost $2.59 at one regular grocery store, but Dollar General purchased Spice Supreme Pure Ground Cinnamon costs "2 For $1 Every Day". The taste is comparable/indistinguishable. Many other products have similar price differences. Is there a quality difference in Dollar General purchased foods? Why is the price so much lower? |

Take a good look at the date(s) on the products. They could be what they call "short code" or simply excess inventory that Dollar General purchased at a low price. Additionally private label merchandise is usually a lower price. Generally other than testing the actual product there is no real way to find out if the product is of equal or inferior quality. Sorry, I am not sure about their foods. They built a DG behind my office, so I go in there sometimes. I like their oven cleaner ($1.00) and their foaming bathroom cleaner ($1.00). Becca |

![]() I sell products to Dollar General. They have quality products but they buy them at the best prices available and they buy in large quantities. Yes, they do buy "close outs" but never really "out of date" products. Stock up at low prices! I find there seasonings to be comparable to any store brand and fine for everyday cooking. peace, Barbara |

Yes, >they do buy "close outs" but never really "out of date" products. "But never really out of date products" is the same as some products approaching their pull dates? ......Alan. -- Curiosity killed the cat - lack of it is killing mankind. |

All those McCormick and Schilling spices in the little bottles are abnormally expensive for what you get. You can get them for 1/10th the price at a store that sells bulk spices. Or you can buy the reasonably priced brands. The ones that aren't out to rip off people who don't mind not having matching bottles of spices. -sw |

For instance I get the 9-roll package of Scott toilet paper and all the writing on the package is in English and Spanish. I've never bought fresh foods there but I often buy a couple of boxes of Fiddle Faddle or a couple of candy bars. I don't usually look for expiration dates on that sort of thing. I buy most of my otc pharmaceuticals there now. The store brand is really cheap - Immodium, Tylenol PM, Tums, Tagamet, etc. I've been using them for at least a year now and they seem to work as well as the brand names. Ditto on their OTC pharmaceuticals. I have been purchasing their cleaning products and their DG brand of "Febreeze", "Wrinkle Release", etc. Becca |

But I've never seen the 9-roll package in the U.S. in regular stores - there are singles, 4-packs and 12-packs that I know for sure I have seen. Maybe 8-packs also, not quite sure about that. But I know I've never seen a 9-pack until I saw it at Dollar Gen. and I've been using Scott tissues for at least 20 years. Then why don't the packages I buy in the supermarket have Spanish on them? I live in Pittsburgh and we have a large Spanish-speaking community here these days. Many items are in Spanish and English because the majority minority are
Spanish speaking. Also Walmart, Sam's, Cosco are in many Spanish speaking countries and they export those things. Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree and Fred's have great things if you know how to buy and evaluate them. |

The Quebquois are always up to something. Namely, separation. I wish the
govenment would cut them off and just let them get on with it. I think they'll be surprised at what they'll be missing.
