Here's the web site for the company that took over MasterCook after Sierra
stopped making it. Last I heard they don't make a version for the Mac
though.

Best bet might be looking at used software for MasterCook for the Mac.

I use an app called Yum! It can import your old MasterCook files. It's a
very small (less than 1 MB), very simple app; I really like it. It's
free, though the author requests a small donation of any amount you can
afford. You can download a copy from VersionTracker or from the author's
own Web site at www.nixanz.com.

The old versions (MC 4 is the latest one that runs on the Mac OS) will not
work with Mac OS X. MC4 predates OSX by at least 4 years!

I refuse to upgrade to OS X (am running 9.0.4) because of some legacy
programs, like Mastercook, that are not upgradeable to OS X.

I'm afraid you are outta luck.

While I have't tested this, not having a copy of Mastercook, there
should be no reason why it won't run under Classic (OS 9) With MacOS X.
Everything I've tried works just fine, including masive and complicated
games and really old crufty software.

I do run OSx and OS9 congruently. I can do this by partitioning the
drive. I am able to run quite a few of my older os9 programs because of
this. But..... with the new OS that is coming out... I don't know.

Thanks for the version update... and check into the partition of your
drive (if it is big enough), that way you can have the best of both
worlds!

OMG, I love this program! Thanks so much for the link! I'm working on
putting all of mine in there. Quick, small, easy to use...everything
you need. Brilliant.

This really is kinda neat! I was also able to get an older version 4.06
of MasterCook, and I am comparing them.

Thanks so much for the link Marty

Actually, there's not even a need to partition a drive in order to
run OS X and OS 9. Panther (the newest OS X) came out on Oct. 25.
I run it on one of my computers, but I don't have any OS 9 software
so I cannot attest to how it would run things in Classic, but I
haven't heard any problems about that in any of the Mac newsgroups.
