Default Bakin' Bacon warning

Almost forgot to mention a head's up from my baking bacon experience
on T-day. Make sure the pan you are using to bake the bacon is pretty
heavy duty. I used a rather flimsy cookie sheet. When it got up to
full heating temp (350F), it warped from the heat and kinda twisted
lengthwise. When I came in to pull it out, I realized that all the
oil had run into one corner of the now warped pan and was about to
overflow onto the heating coils. Yikes! Coulda' been a real bummer
there. Next time I'll use the broiler pan or my cast iron skillet.

I line a thick jelly roll pan with foil, and bake it in the grill.
Perfect every time.

I use a "broiler pan". Those are the ones that have a slotted
metal top and a semi-deep pan underneath that catches all of the
drippings. The bacon turns out perfectly using it.

Is it hard to clean? I have several of them I use for smoking salmon
and meatloaf. I'll try lining one with foil and slicing through the
slots. Good idear Cyndi. <---spelled right?

Nope... it's a breeze to clean. I spray the top and bottom of
slotted top with non-stick spray and line the bottom pan with
foil.

Yesh. You spelled correctly! Please say hello to the gang for
me.

Cleaning it is not a big deal, Gar. I think I did the foil thing once
and now don't bother. The gunk on it from baking bacon is not the same
as burned on gunk. I have a large kitchen sink that will easily
accommodate that rack in a little hot soapy water. Scrubbing it with a
stiff brush is easy. Sometimes I spray it with Pam before putting the
bacon on.

Yes, but cookies usually contain a buncha shorting and cook at 350-400
deg F. I'm still not quite sure why the pan warped. I remember
distinctly hearing the snap as it buckled, but didn't realize that's
what is was. Still weird.
