Finding a good stove
I am preparing to remodel my kitchen and I'm shopping for a new stove
and oven. Searching the web turned up a good looking choice http://lagermania.it but they don't sell them in the USA. Does anyone have any experience with this brand? The price and quality seems good. I can order it direct from Hong Kong but I'd like to hear some personal experiences with the brand first. The typical high-end brands available in USA (Viking, Wolf) seem more like overpriced designer show-pieces than practical cookers for everyday use in the home. I care more about cleanability, space efficiency, and value. |

It's worth checking into. -- Peter Aitken Remove the crap from my email address before using. |

Also they tout these 18,000 BTU burners as 'big'. Add another 10,000 and your at the rating of our Imperial I-R4. We looked at Viking but the Wife wasn't happy with front and rear grates being one piece. Also it cost more, and the fake commercial cost three times as much. Yes, our I-R4 isn't the 'state of the art' restaurant range, And there are firewall considerations, that's why I haven't used the oven yet. I can make brown rice in a 1 quart Revere Ware sauce pan. That's WITHOUT the optional 7000 btu simmer burner. And the standard burners heat evenly. They also have a Wok Jet. Far as cleaning? It comes apart in 5 minutes. I'm happy. Check Consumer Reports. They have evaluated numerous models of gas and electric ovens and ranges. Even for those who do not agree with CR's testing methods, they give a lot of tips on what features do what and explain how to decide on a quality unit. |

Finding a good stove
I have seen no comments here about the Boston Market commercial showing the
high end range in a designer kitchen. The gal comes home with a bag from Boston Market, puts it on the stove and says "There's Supper", no stove to clean!! The stove does take a fair amount of space though. Doug. We looked at Consumer Reports, and they said that more money didn't usually give you a better stove. Sometimes you got more gadgets, but the basic function was no better. They recommended a stove for about $500. They rated the very expensive stoves at the bottom of their list. Especially at issue was cleanability, the expensive stoves were more difficult to clean. -- Dan Abel Sonoma State University AIS |
