O.K., I admit it...I don't like Rachel Ray or either of her shows. Just a
matter of personal opinion. But I know some folks here like her and I
thought this might interest you.

Rachel is a local girl - she used to do cooking segments on WRGB, a local
CBS affiliate. So this weekend she did a book signing at the Price Chopper
supermarket in the Latham/Loudonville area (it's a suburb of Albany). I
think it was scheduled for Saturday, but had to be moved to Sunday due to
the big snowstorm we just had.

I didn't go myself, but I heard it was a very, very good turnout to see
her...especially considering the weather. Most people were still digging
out from the snowstorm. Here's a link to a tiny news story about the event:

Enjoy!

My 13 year old daughter watches and records all of her shows. I don't
know why the infatuation, but she sure seems to identify with her style
of cooking and childish nuances.

She looked pretty good in the pictures from some magazine somebody
posted a link to a few months ago. BUT!!! An airbrush is a
wonderful thing. I find it hard to believe the skin on her stomach
and legs are that smooth at her age. Personally I think she'd look
best in some bondage photos with that annoying yap-hole plugged.

Agreed. I hate Iron Chef and most of the food is revolting. I am so
sick of Emeril and think they should cut him down. At least Rachel is
upbeat and fairly interesting especially on 40$. I wish they would do
re runs of the fat ladies. Those were so interesting and entertaining.

I would like to see more reuns of the old Galloping Gourmet show when Kerr
was tipsy and silly. It was much more interesting that the new health
conscious stuff he does.

She does have a way of getting on one's nerves. I rarely watch FoodTV
anymore. Its a pity because I used to enjoy it so very much.

I have never even heard a whiff of an idea that Galloping Gourmet was a
pedophile. Are you sure you aren't confusing him with Frugal Gourmet?

Has to be. I've been a fan of Kerr's since the Galloping Gourmet show
and there's never been a whiff of that sort of scandal about him.

The lycanthrope is confused about any number of things, many of them
unpleasant.

OBFood: Grilled steak for dinner tonight. Scrambled okra and slaw on
the side. I tried to make sweet potato oven fires, but the turned out
limp. Tasty, but limp.

I wash and take the head off okra then split it in quarters lengthwise
and sauté it with a sprinkling of spices. I serve it as a side with
meat. Otherwise, I can sauté it and add it to pilafs or couscous.

Yup, it's a veggie. Nope, I don't scramble it like eggs. I took to
calling it that after an article in Saveur magazine used the term.
Before that I just cooked it. I use an iron skillet and gently sizle
it over medium heat (with olive oil) till the slime is reduced and the
okra caramelizes. It takes about an hour or maybe less.
