Default Melba Does Manhattan - The Postmortem

It was wonderful. I am pooped. I am home. Margaret is generous to a
fault. I asked to keep the Magic Card she bought for me that was my bus
ticket for a week. Oh, the places it's been.

I told you about the cab thing at Zabar's? Today I arrived at LaGuardia
with 2-1/2 hours to spare, went to my gate and discovered a flight to
MSP departing in 20 minutes. They put me on it. It was one-third full.
I had a row to myself. I managed to get the 50# bag in the overhead.
It contained these things from Zabar's and Mme. Suran's: Halvah,
Russian Coffee Cake, Black and White Cookies. Cream Herring. Two
containers of Chopped Chicken Liver. Those olives. Trois Petits
Cochons Dry Sausage. A six pack of Dr. Brown's Cel-Ray stuff. (What
the hell was I thinking? Steve, I told Margaret you'd have your stuff
tomorrow. ) A box of imported Belgian Chocolates (the kind you must
refrigerate). (Nyaah, nyaah.) Chocolate rugelach. Saint Andre
Triple Cream Cheese from Fairway (not as good as the stuff Mimi served
me on Sunday). My sun-dried tomatoes from Zabar's. What did I forget,
Margaret? Rob's going to love the sausage!

My car driver offered me a free book on the Second Coming. It's not
often that one gets offered religion from a hired driver, I think. I
must have looked depraved.

I left some clothes to be mailed; there was no room in my two bags, one
of which was a big sucker that Margaret produced. The schmatteh undies
were schmattehed. "Hmm, I wonder what's in this bag. . . . Eeeew!
Schmatteh!"

It took us about twice as long to get home tonight (weather was crappy)
from the airport. Had I taken my scheduled flight, I'd still be on the
road. Rob is sick. I made him some Thai packaged Hot Sour Soup (and
threw in a few extra cruhed chili seeds) and sent him to bed.

Margaret rocks. She drinks a lot, but that's part of her charm. "-)
Margaret, I drank one TaB and two cans of Bloody Mary Mix on the plane.
The rugelach were in my bag in the overhead three rows up. Couldn't get
to them. Just as well.

"Goodnight, Gracie." I'm going to look at my digital pictures now.
Haven't done that yet.
