I baked dinner rolls yesterday, made a wash of egg and water and sprinkled
sesame seeds on top. The seeds were tough and tasteless. Should I have toasted them first? I thought they would toast during the baking, but it didn't turn out that way. H |

They were Tone's brand in the little round container like you buy spices in. Would toasting them in a skillet first, help? H |

Far as I can tell, someone wrote:

Go to a bakery and ask to buy a small quantitiy of seeds. I buy 50 pound bags and would happily swap a dollar to fill your little jar. For a smile I'd just give them to you, and smile back. I lose more on the floor or on stales than most people use in a year at home. A few months ago I gave a guy a baggy full of carraway seeds. He was elated. He prolly sniffed out half the flavor before he made it out the door. |
