I've been lurking in this ng for a good 4 months or so and finally feel like
I want to be a part of the group. Do you have room for one more person who
isn't rude, but is just looking for good cooking tips?

I was playing with the site and the ranking posted is for a one-year period
ending October 31, 2003. Considering Harry hasn't been posting much over
the last few months, he must have been quite prolific the months before :-).

Always room for someone like that.

People periodically post this to rfc. It has been going on for years.
What is the point of any tradition? It probably has different meanings
for different people

yeah.. you and me both. I guess I dropped back when too many people (the
type asking 'what's the point') started posting. Sure miss some of those
olden days and missing posters... <sigh>

Common Usenet phenomenon.

The OT threads are interesting (or inflammatory), but
the people in the group don't normally discuss them with
anyone, so when the thread shows up, everyone jumps in,
and covers every corner of something that elsewhere would
be mostly dismissed.

What are you still doing up at midnight? I thought this was way past

before I've even gone to sleep.

BTDT! (Say, why does cilatro taste like soap... gag.) But sometimes
it's fun to go away for a few years and come back. It's like seeing old
friends - even if you don't recognize most of 'em!

The topics should look familiar; How Do I Peel Boiled Eggs?, How Do I
Make Gravy?, Mexican Vanilla, the Atkin's Diet, President
(fill-in-the-blank) Is a Jerk!, etc.

It has been a while since I've seen the $250.00 Neiman Marcus cookie
recipe, though. Maybe things are changing.

Remember the discussion about something that was poisonous, was it bay
leaves packed in oil?

Hm... does anyone know how to make an authentic Cuban sandwich? Or why,
given one chicken, one leg is bigger than the other? And what ever
happened to Mark Thorsen and his Ilk?

We were both slightly off. There weren't any typos, the domain didn't list
webtv, and we both used text-only to post.
