Default Deodorizing a microwave ?

I think it has been discussed before, but I do not remember the answer.
How do you get the smell out of the infernal machine. Looks clean, but
smells funny.

I couldn't believe how well this worked for me, after everything else didn't.

Coffee grounds, overnight. I was in a hurry so I took wet used coffee grounds,
still in their wet paper filter and closed them in the microwave overnight. (I
think maybe the wetness helped).
worked wonderfully.

The lemon works well. As a matter of fact, when I want to juice a lemon, I zap
it for a mijnute or less depending on the size of the lemon. It gets more
juice. I do this on a fairly regular basis, therefore, the microwave rarely
gets a lasting odor.

I hope this helps.

Precautionary note:

I once zapped a lime in the micro for about 45 seconds, took it out, started to
cut it in half, and a spurt of Hot Burning juice came shooting out--caused a
blister.

I've always used Lysol citrus scented anti-bacterial spray.
Not only does it get completely clean, clean enough to eat off of, but
it leaves a nice smell.

I spray it on, close the door, let it sit for a few hours or overnight
& then clean it out with a mild soap solution.

So I suppose when nibbling that slice of left over pizza heated in your oven it

I wouldn't spray Lysol near anything my dog would eat let alone me. What a
grab-bag of nasty chemicals! And who the hell wants a smell in their
microwave even if it is "nice." This just means the new smell is covering up
the old smell which is still present. A thorough cleaning with dish soap and
water and lots of elbow grease is what you need.

Hey, there are occasions when Lysol is invaluable... obviously you've never

First, it's not an aerosol spray, it's a pump spray.
It's sort of like Windex or 409, but has a citrus scent. Just
because it has the name Lysol, doesn't mean it's an air cleaner.
It's a cleaning product, not a deodorant spray that you spray in
the air after you take a dump in the bathroom.
2nd: I had tried just soapy water & it doesn't get the smell out &
I'd rather have a nice citrus scent, than a funky old food smell.
Plus, leaving it in there for a while is necessary for it to kill
the smell & loosen up anything encrusted onto the surface of the
walls.
C: It has antibacterial properties, so it kills germs. I clean it up
with a mild soap to get the "chemicals" as you say, and wipe out
all the cooked on stuff. It's perfectly safe.
