Has anyone got a good recipe for pastry that makes a really delicious apple
pie? I managed to get the filling just right on the pie but made a mess of the pastry and wasn't entirely happy with using the vegetable fat due to the hydrogenated fats. Thx IanW |

Hi, Try this. 8ounces of plain flour, 4ounces softened butter. Rub the
butter into the flour lifting the the flour high as you rub it in, this gets plenty of air into the mix. Bring together with cold water. Line your plate with half the pastry. Cook the apples first and make sure they are quite cool before putting them in your pie. Sprinkle some ginger onto the apples, cover with the top layer of pastry, make a slit in the centre of the pastry. Brush with milk and spinkle over some demerra sugar. I cannot tell you what temperature to cook at as I have a Aga. I place my pie on a baking tray and put it on the floot of the oven but I think you should use the centre of the oven. Hope this works, it does for me. Good luck. "IanW" > wrote in message ... > Has anyone got a good recipe for pastry that makes a really delicious apple > pie?
