I bought some spatulas that are made of some kind of
plastic material. Nylon I think. They are brand name as well such as Ekco or something like that I notice that when I use them to fry say and egg..... that bits of the material on the very edge of the spatula will flake off! Is this normal? Can this material harm me if ingested? If yes.... what kind of spatulas do you recommend buying to replace them? thanks in advance! |

It is practically indestructible (and easy on nonstick surfaces too)! I've had two of them for years and love them as much as my flat whisks. Go to Walmart, and buy what sells for something like a dollar, that comes in a bag of other mixed black plastic utensils. Says it's good to something around 350 degrees F which should do you fine unless you like to let it sit and sit and sit in the pan, but even then you just buy another. Made in USA too, unlike most Walmart stuff. |

Walmart is 30+ minutes, a Bay and a $2 bridge toll away, so it's not worth it just to save a couple of pennies on a small ticket item. I was in Walmart once. Yuck! It looked like a slum and I could meet or beat the prices on everything I saw by shopping in more convenient stores. Target is absolutely great, however! I bought my kitchen tongs there. They have scalloped edges with a flat tip (which I prefer) and a sliding ring to keep them closed in the drawer, they came as a set of short, med & long for around $3. sf Practice safe eating - always use condiments |

We have to drive over 100 miles to a Walmart, Target or any other like store. We usually stop at both Target and Walmart but the Walmart 99.9% of the time is cheaper, better organized and much better service. Guess the area makes a difference. |

I do in fact have heat resistant spatulas.
They are made of nylon and made by Ekco. That's why I am a bit shocked at how they seem to flake off at the edge. Is it possible Im still getting them to hot? I especially notice this flaking of when I fry eggs..... if that info helps any |

Mine are made of nylon I think maybe Walmart has a silicone one. >You can get various shaped frying pan tools made from bamboo. These are >easy on non-stick. Interesting! I would have never thought of bamboo as a material. But it does make sense |
