Default [REC & Review] Garlic Prawns in Lemon & Butter Sauce

My first attempt to cook raw shrimp or prawns! This is a recipe
that I found online and reworked to suite our tastes:

Garlic Prawns in Lemon & Butter Sauce

16 large prawns, peeled and deveined
1/4 C. butter, divided use
2 large cloves garlic, finely minced
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
1 T. lemon juice
1 T. chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

In large skillet over medium-high heat, melt 1 T. butter. Sauté
prawns for 2 minutes, or until just pink. Add garlic; do not brown.
Add remaining butter and stir until melted. Season with salt, pepper,
and lemon juice. Remove from heat and garnish with parsley. Serve
immediately, serves four.

Now the review: at first I thought this was kind of bland, and
wasn't sure it was worth the time it takes to devein and peel
that many prawns. Then I made sure each bite had some garlic &
sauce on it -- very good! Unfortunately, the family said it was
just "okay" (Husband isn't a seafood fan and Child is now 7 and
his tastes change daily), so I don't know if I'll make it again
soon...

I usually throw a little white wine in mine and coat the top with an
adequate amount of paremesan cheese. What you've got is a basic recipe for
shrimp scampi, with a little lemon added which is how I do mine. A dash of
Italian seasoning in there is good too.

Then you may as well use chicken, no one will taste the difference, and it's a
lot cheaper.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't recall Sheldon ever saying he doesn't eat
cheese or seafood. He'll let me know if I'm misinformed

As an aside, I don't get the cheese fish/whatever thing either.

Once, a friend of mine, her stepdaughter was getting married in
Boston, where would I recommend to stay. Oh geez, what if it's not
a good experience for them. But, we always stay at the Marriot in
Newton, plus they have this restaurant, blah blah blah. But I was
nervous as hell because, they just lease, (the restaurants in hotels)
it could be totally different by now. (as it was) So, she tells me
her sil, the *itch (she is) ordered swordfish parmesian. Oh god.
Sorry to all of you out there, that sounds like ickky!!!!!!! (laugh)

How can you possibly taste the fish through that glop of cheese?

No need for cheese on my fish. nancy

It's okay, IMO, if you use a parm/mac. nut crust or use a dabble of jack
cheese on a fish taco or even a shrimp burrito with a light dollop. But
glop it on? No. But still, I like little shavings of parm on my cioppino.
Little. For color.

I don't either... especially when the fish is battered &
fried the ususal way. Plain sauted fish, okay. We did
sauted catfish tacos the other day and they were not
disgusting. It's not something I'd volunteer to cook, but
since someone else did the cooking - who am I to complain?

How does one saute a taco... for that matter how does one saute a catfish?
And yes, I once ate a taco.... didn't find sloppy joe slop disguised as chili
on a large corn chip very appealing.

I swear to you all that I thought it was a joke when Kay and her

San Diego. Never heard of such a thing in my life. And that is

Default Fish Tacos in San Diego (was garlic prawns in lemon)

The best fish taco (or for that matter any taco) in San Diego is in a little
hole-in-the-wall place on Garnet Ave.--immediately next door to The Haircut
Place at 1096 Garnet Ave. They will fix it with either soft or crisp
taco--which is hard to find. The people who work there are eager to please,
and everything is cooked to order.
Rubio's fish tacos are much talked about, but I don't like them because they
only make them with soft (often cold) taco shells, and breaded fish that has
already been cooked and set aside.

No really, fish tacos are so awesome. You can get the fish sauteed or beer
battered. The deep fried corn tortilla has green raw cabbage (usually)
instead of lettuce and onion, tomatoes and whatever else. They usually have
a white sauce kind of like a mixutre between mayo/sour cream and a limey
salsa. They're EXCELLENT. If you like fish, it's a must have.

You're not supposed to. They're for us swarthy coastal types. :P

I make them here myself, grilled fish, fresh roasted chile and onions. No
cheese though, unlike that other fish taco poster. For the fish I've used
tuna, sword, catfish, snapper or cod.

Apparently people on the east coast. I make grilled salmon with a
tomato-basil feta sauce that is gorgeous.
