Bed, Bath, and Beyond has the 7 piece stainless set for $379. I get a coupon about once a month for 20% off, bringing the price down to $303. The Master Chef line is about $40 less. |

Maybe they don't pay any attention to that. Chris in Pearland, TX |

I bet that you would have at least a 50% chance of getting the discount unless their computer is smart enough to block the transaction. Trying several stores would increase your odds. A new closeout store opened in my area. They had a great deal on luggage. The tag said "5 piece set. Un-nest to display." There was only a price on the outside piece. When I took it to the check-out the clerk called over a supervisor to see if it was priced as a set or as pieces. They had to call a couple of other people and consult a big print out. Finally the concluded it was NOT priced as a set but they didn't have a clue as to the actual price of the individual pieces nor could they explain why the price tag was on the label that said "5 piece set." Since they didn't know the actual prices for the pieces, I couldn't buy it. I went to another store in the chain and they rang up the sale for the price on the tag without question. The clerk opened the pieces so he was aware that it wasn't just one piece. I returned the next week and bought another set without a problem. I still don't know if it was really a set or not, but I got 10 matching pieces of luggage for $80. Considering the large mark-down on their other merchandise, it didn't seem too unreasonable. |

What is the deal with those coupon restrictions, anyways? I have coupons for Linens 'n Things that say "not valid for All - Clad, Calphalon, Krups, J A Henckels, Royal Velvet....". I mean it's not a huge amount of money, only a crummy five bux off of a purchase of $15.00 or more...is it a hangover from the old "Fair Trade" price laws or...??? -- Best Greg |

I've thought a lot about this.....the most logical explanation is that they probably don't eat the $5 or 20% off themselves when someone uses a coupon, but instead split the discount some way (50/50?) with the manufacturer of the goods. All-Clad, etc. must refuse to participate in such programs, therefore they are excluded from the coupon. |
