....so I'm going out to buy a crockpot and start investigating some hearty
cooler - weather recipes.... It is positively *autumnal* here in Chicago, prolly won't crack 65 for a daytime high for awhiles. I see it's hot in the West, but we have had a very cool summer generally here in the Midwest. No monstrous killer heatwaves for a change, just a few humid days in the high 80's.... Summer was fine while it lasted ;-] -- Best Greg |

I have used a blanket at night lately and have had to lower the windows. Yesterday when I was having my morning coffee on the deck, I noticed that the air smelled like fall. The leaves are starting to change color a bit and enough have dropped (due to cicada damage, no doubt) that I can see rather far into the woods. I bet I haven't used the AC more than two weeks total this year. |

Yeah, but you down there usually have a long pleasant autumn that can last through or even past Thanksgiving. We have had some really neat and fierce > thunderstorms, but I enjoy those.... We haven't even had the thunderstorms this year. It was a bit too dry in the early fall, but we are now a bit above normal for precipitation. The lawn is nice and green without any supplemental water. Now, if we just have a mild winter. Thank god we got a new high efficiency furnace last year or our heating bill would have been sky high. Natural gas prices are about 40% higher than two years ago. |
