Default Sausage with the "maple" smell?

I was cooking Farmer John maple-flavored sausages and was wondering how the
heck the maple smell got infused into the meat. I know that you can't produce
that naturally in nature.

Maple cured. You can find the same thing in bacon. I don't care for it
myself.

Imitation maple flavoring. I think "Maplene" is an old standard brand.

oh not even that well done..they add flavoring..bad flavoring..if the
requestor is talking about that maple stuff at the grocery store..and it is
not maple smoked..it is (gag) fake maple syrup flavor added for
flavoring..my husband buys that stuff and I just GAG over it..I will eat
regular breakfast sausage and run it through the syrup dripped on my plate
but the artificially flavored stuffing that sausage....did I mention <gag>

I'm not aware of a maple sausage made by Farmer John, only a maple
flavored bacon. Maybe it's a new product.

I accidently bought the bacon version one time. I hate
maple-anything, but I cooked it anyway.

Fortunately it was just "maple-scented", as it didn't have any maple
taste at all. Sure smelled strong, though.

I never cared much for the maple cured bacon, but Johnson's maple sausages
are pretty darned tasty.
