That's what I have. I am the only person in the house who drinks coffee
(something called Peruvian Crossroads from the health food store) and only
one cup a day. Mine has a cup, a section with a mesh botton, and a top
section with holes.

The section with the mesh sits atop the cup and in goes the freshly ground
coffee. The section with holes fits atop and in goes the boiling water.
Works perfectly for me.

Nice Idea. Tried that and the coffee filter clogged so badly that we
got about two or three drops per minute...frustrating!

Problem seemed to be that the Mr. Coffee just dribbles the water
slowly into the basket. I'm just not a good dribbler, I guess. Don't
have the patience.

(Lord...give me patience...but I want it right now!)

WOW!

My thanks to all who commented and provided some great suggestions.
Thanks to you all, I learned a lot about brewing coffee and bookmarked
some neat and informative sites. THANKS!

One thing I learned...

To drive the other residents of my condo absolutely out of their
minds, I should use a percolator and a can of Maxwell House (or
whatever) to brew a big pot of coffee for whomever comes to the door
<G>.

For me and my lady, the French Press with hand-ground beans seems to
be the best idea. Hah!...Let those plebians attracted by the
percolator drink the swill <G>.

Hmm. I've never had that problem with a drip coffee filter
and I grind my beans to an Aribic powder.

I still think your percolator idea is fine. You need to
know how long to perk it though. Back in the day... long
before Starbucks - when I was just a college student, an
Arabic coffee purveyor told me how to make perked coffee and
it was FANTASTIC. You can only do it on a gas stove - but I
haven't cooked with gas since I was in college, so I don't
remember that method anymore.

Does that unit have a catch lever that stops the flow when you pull the
carafe out from under it so you don't have a stream of coffee hitting the
burner? That might be the problem.

Anyway, if that still doesn't work, you can get those plastic cone fillter
holder thangs that would do the trick with pouring boiling water over the
grounds.
