Default Sloppy Joes

Know this has been on here before, but message was no longer available for
me to look at it. Anyway, I love sloppy joe's (football season an all) but
hate the "out of the can" kind. Don't like the chili tasting or powderd
stuff. Would anyone share a good recipie or two with us? thanks gals/guys as
usual.

Then, if you type in "sloppy joes" in the "with all the words" dialog box, you
will get 4090 responses in .47 seconds.
If you leave off the quotes, you will get 4530 responses in .70 seconds.

Not being a fan of sloppy joes, I can't comment on whether any of these would be
good or not, but if you will read the ingredient list(s) you should be able to
determine if a recipe has something that doesn't appeal to you. Experiment.
You may come up with something great that hasn't been tried before.

It's not that deep round these parts. We saute up some diced vidalia onions
until nice and caramelized, add some diced green and red bell pepper until they
are soft. Add a 1 - 2 lbs crumbled ground beef (preferably market grind), some
salt, lots of black pepper and brown. Then I dump in a cup of ketchup, 1/4 cup
brown sugar, a couple T of rice wine vinegar and worchestershire sauce, a shot
or two of tabasco and simmer until thickened. Serve on toasted hamburger rolls.

Well, I don't know about anyone else but this one works for me:

Amount Measure Ingredient Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion chopped
1 pound ground beef
2 cloves garlic minced
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
3 tablespoons tomato paste
1 teaspoon seasoned salt
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
1/8 teaspoon black pepper

1) In large skillet over med-high heat LIGHTLY saute onion in oil.
2) Add ground beef and saute until beef and onion are browned. Add
garlic and saute 2 minutes more. Reduce heat to medium-low.
3) Add ketchup, bbq sauce, Worcestershire, mustard and tomato paste
and stir through.
4) Add remaining ingredients and stir through.
5) Simmer 1/2 hour.

This is the one we like. You can leave out the chili powder, as there
isn't very much anyway,

Here's the recipe I like:

Sloppy Joes

1 lb. ground beef
tomato catsup
1-2 Tbsp brown sugar
1-2 Tbsp vinegar
cinnamon (to taste)
minced onion
chopped green pepper
minced celery (just a little for sweetness) -- or celery seed

Brown meat and onions until no longer pink. Add green pepper and celery.
Break up the meat Add catsup until mixture has enough sauce. Just a shake
or two of cinnamon really wakes things up. Add vinegar and brown sugar. If
you wish, you can add proportionally more brown sugar and vinegar a
tablespoon at a time.
