Dipping sauce for breadsticks

Last night I made breadsticks for my husband, OK they were out of one of those
rolls you buy at the store, so maybe I should say I baked breadsticks for my
husband... Anyway, I was thinking what kind of simple dipping sauce I could
make for them. They were good, I mean really good but I think I need a dip for
them. Last night he ate them with his spaghetti and I made a little sauce out
of tomato sauce and parmesan cheese... It was shall we say unacceptable. My
husband who can eat Kim chee didn't like the sauce. Does anyone have a simple
recipe for a dipping sauce for breadsticks?

We both thank you

Amber and Harold

some chopped garlic)

I think the take-out places use pizza sauce, maybe jazzed a little
with flavors that you especially like - arugula, Parmesan/Romano,
garlic, etc. Another idea - I have a son who thinks Ranch dressing
and Dorothy Lynch dressing are good sauces for anything. ;-)

I was rather thinking spaghetti, assumed to be served with spaghetti
sauce, then breadsticks with essentially the same thing? I think you
should go with something different.

We love dipping sauces, too, but have never heard of Dorothy Lynch sauce.
Could someone please post the recipe. Thanks so much!

One that we like is olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced garlic, finely
grated parmesan cheese, and some chopped herbs. Deeeelish with any bread!

You could make a cinnamon-sugar-butter type dip and serve the breadsticks as a
dessert.

If serving for dinner, I agree a garlic butter sauce works best. But if eating
at home I wind up dipping bread into my salad bowl and sopping up whatever
italian dressing remains in the bottom of the bowl..

no-cook cheddar cheese sauce

1/4 cup crumbled Cheddar cheese
1 tbsp white vinegar
1/4 cup mayonaise
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/8 tsp black pepper

in a blender combine the cheese, mayo, and vinegar.
With blender running slowly add cream.
season with pepper.

I imagine any firm, stronger flavoured cheese would work in this. And
adding things like lemon juice, roasted garlic clove or 2 (to the mayo).
Might work well. Also a vinegar change-up might be nice.
