Default Dinner wtih Friends

We had a lovely dinner tonight at a friend's home. It was nothing unusual,
but the execution was perfect and the food delicious. We had...

Caesar Salad (the real way)
Standing Rib Roast
Oven-Roasted Potatoes
Julienne of Carrots in a lightly honey-sweetened butter sauce with cayenne
Freshly Picked Green Peas with Fresh Mint
Fresh-Baked Parkerhouse Rolls
Choice of Chocolate Mousse Cake or Lemon Meringue Pie (both homemade)

An excellent cook to begin with, our friend recently completed a rather
grueling but enjoyable 24 months in culinary school. She will soon begin a
course there in advanced pastry making followed by advanced bread baking.

Her dinner choices were unrelated to her recent school experience, however,
she clearly has gained a wealth of knowledge and technique. Our
conversation about her experiences there was fascinating.

Not sure how she killed the beef, but it was a bloody mess before going
into the oven. <G>

I'll be sure to put your name in the hat!

BTW, Michael, every time I see your name on a post, it give me a very warm
and thankful feeling that you're back.

Sounds like an enjoyable dinner. Good food, good friends, who could ask for
more. Mine was sauteed salmon, green beens (fresh) almondine, cous-cous,
and fried bananas/rum.

Cheers!

Oh, that sounds delicious! I need to get some fresh salmon soon. I
haven't had fried bananas in years, but I love them. Bananas are on the
kitchen counter...I think they'll be on the table tonight!
