Default New Find in the Land of Fruits and Nuts!!

I recently returned from California where I attended a wine and food tasting.
Everything was delicious and the wines were perfect.

The big thing for me tho was a salad made of fresh corn , and tiny , tiny
tomatoes.
They were about the size of a pearl. I have never seen them before. They were
much smaller than the Grape Tomatoes.

Has any one had these before ? Can you buy them in other places , or was this
just a local delicacy?

Interesting. I live in CA and this is the first I have heard of them.

I have a few tiny ones at the top of my Sweet 100 tomato
plants. They are cute but the skins are very tough and
make up too large a percentage of the fruit.

Haven't seen them for sale. Those are what we get from the grape tomato
plants when I don't water them enough LOL! Logical enough step to breed
them down some more.

Several years ago, I got some seeds of a mostly wild tomato variety from
Native Seeds Search (www.nativeseeds.org). The fruit were the size of
berries with a deep, strong tomato flavor. When I stopped planting
tomatoes, they continued to volunteer for years. Our old dog, Jet, used to
nibble the ripe ones right off the bush.

I just checked their web site; they don't seem to have that variety any
more. This looks like the closest thing in their current catalog:
http://www.nativeseeds.org/v2/prod.php?prodID=TM005

I've never seen them in stores, but maybe someone in growing them
commercially now.

====================
I have a photo in a book (not a cookbook) but a book ABOUT food. They
call them "Currant Tomatoes" and they look to be about the size of
smallish blueberries - or (Duh) currants
Lynn from Fargo
(Tasted home grown grape tomatoes today just as sweet as store bought
but with twice the tomato flavor.)
