Default tonight's dinner

howboutdis? loose chorizo and rice cooked in pork stock, with some pitted
green and black olives. Served in a bowl with sauteed langostinos on top.
Last of the season cherry tomato salad on the side. A glass of my friend's
homemade wine in a dixie cup. Napkins, but no silverware. Nah, just
kidding. I grabbed a Big Mac, some KFC chicken tenders and a Wendy's salad
and whipped up a FFS (fast food shake). I'm good to go.

Heh. Our dinner was kielbasa browned, and then slow-cooked with
sauerkraut, one onion slivered, one apple slivered, and caraway seeds.
Let it cook in the slow-cooker for about 4 hours, and it was good to go.
Served with a salad on the side, and a spicy grainy mustard on the
sausage.

October is wonderful.

Yum! That sounds really good, and I agree about October. Tonight, we got
to go out to dinner. My in-laws came back from their vacation and
practically threw my husband and I out of our house so that they could spoil
our children for an evening.

So Bob and I went to McCormick and Schmick, where my hubby's twin brother,
Rick, waits tables. We had to wait a while to get a table in Rick's
section, but we didn't mind.

Bob had half a dozen raw oysters, followed by some barely-seared tuna served
with rice, pickled ginger, wasabi and soy sauce. I had a mesclun salad with
blue cheese and candied walnuts, followed by grilled wild alaskan salmon
served atop sauteed wild mushrooms, swiss chard, and cippollini onions, with
a bit of red pepper pesto on the side.

Everything was very good, though my salad didn't have enough dressing, which
I found puzzling. I added some of the sherry vinegar with chopped shallots
that came with Bob's oysters (which we also found puzzling -- haven't seen
that as an oyster condiment before). Anyway, the sherry vinegar did the
trick -- I love really vinegary vinaigrettes!

For dessert, we had tiramisu, which was pretty good, though I'm not really a
tiramisu person. It was nice to get out a bit, and nice to see Rick.

I had the exact same thing about a week ago! Except I forgot to brown the
sausage. It was wonderful. Though it was a hot evening it was something I
really wanted to eat that day.

We took some friends out (we owed them dinner for favors
rendered). Efendi's Mediterranian Grill. Started off with a
mezze plate of hoummos, babaganoush, dolmas, tsatsaki and pita
wedges.

Two folks had the house special, a beef, chicken, and lamb
shishkebab with brown rice and the day's veggies. One had
kibbe (same sides), and I had the smoked salmon on penne withh
a caper/lemon sauce.

Espresso was acidic, coffee was great, (odd, since ususally it's
the other way round). Dessert tray picks were bakalava for me
(I can't pass it up when offered) and a chocolate cheesecake for
my friends. Desserts were large enough that we
shared.

None of us drink, so can't comment on the winelist, but
definately worth a return trip.

That sounds deluxe! Is that place in Providence? (PVD for the airline set).
