Default Roasting almonds in microwave?

Can I roast raw (shelled, unsalted) almonds in my microwave oven,
or do I need to use a conventional oven? What are the parameters
(temp, time, etc.)?

I tried searching in Google and Google Groups and didn't find anything
that looked like a clear answer. If this is in an FAQ, please accept my
apologies and request to the link. Thank you.

I don't recommend cooking almonds, or any nuts, in a microwave. They need the
dry heat of an oven.
------------------------------
350g/12oz organic whole almonds with the skin on
3 tbsp light olive oil
1 tsp cayenne
1 tsp paprika
1 tbsp Maldon sea salt
1 tsp freshly ground black pepper

Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
2. Toss all the ingredients together in a large bowl. Tip on to a roasting tray
or use a large terracotta dish. Cook in the oven for 20-25 minutes tossing
frequently. Drain well on kitchen paper before serving. They may need a little
more salt so have a taste before serving

I stopped doing it in an oven at all. Now I toast them stovetop in a
non-stick skillet with a few drops of almond oil. Stir very frequently
over medium-low heat. A pound of almonds takes about 12 minutes.
Slight surface browning and wonderful crunchy texture. If I want them
salted, I trickle a bit more oil on them and salt. The oil helps salt
stick to them but makes fingers oily in eating them.

I've done them with olive oil, sesame oil, grapeseed oil and canola.
Sometimes sprinkle a bit of garlic powder (sparingly) over. Nice, too.
Or sugar or Splenda.

Much better control than an oven. You can watch them develop and stir
as needed without losing heat as in an oven. Let them cool to room
temp, taste. Try not to eat them all.

I buy big bags from Costco and go through them in about two weeks.

You can't really "roast" in the microwave - I've done almonds in the
toaster oven so I didn't have to heat up the big oven.

Yup, attempting to roast nuts with a microwave oven would be a big mistake,
they'd be ruined... many would burn while others remained raw.

I've found the best (and easiest) method is to roast/toast nuts on the stove
top, in a heavy pan.... be watchful and stir often so all cook evenly.
