Default lost recipe - does anyone have the recipe for "Pear Honey"

Hi all,
I just posted my recipe for Grittibanz which I am
planning to make this year as gifts. I have always
accompanied it by a batch of my Pear Honey. However
I seem to have lost the recipe. I have searched high
and low at home and can't find it. I know it must be
there somewhere but is probably misfiled (I have hundreds
of recipe cards in 4 large file boxes!) or stuck in one
of my 100 or so cookbooks. My aunt thought I had given
her a copy but couldn't find it. I have e-mailed by
sister to see if I gave it to her and she still has it.

I went online and tried to find it. I found about 10,000
recipes called Pear Honey. And about 9,998 of them have
pineapple or pineapple juice in them. Mine does not!!!
The other 2 were not the same recipe. I'm going nuts here.
I love that stuff. Everyone else loves it.

So, does anyone out there, by any chance, happen to have
this recipe? It is just pears, sugar, honey (I think),
and maybe a pinch of cinnamon or lemon juice. I haven't
made it for at least 5 years and my memory is getting
cloudy. But it sure as hell does not have pineapple in
it! I got this recipe from, I think, Bon Appetit over
20 years ago, maybe as much as 30 years ago.

Please help!

Thanks,
Kate

Pear Honey
Yield 4 pints

Ingredients

8 cups peeled, cored and chopped pears
1 cup unsweetened pineapple juice
8 cups white sugar

Directions

1. Place chopped pears into a large pot, and pour pineapple juice over them to
prevent them from browning. Stir in sugar, and bring to a boil over medium-high
heat. Stir frequently to prevent scorching. When the pears are at a full boil,
reduce heat to medium, and cook until the mixture is the color and texture of
honey. The longer you cook it, the thicker it gets. Cooking time is usually 2
to 3 hours.

2. Ladle into hot sterile jars, filling to within 1/4 inch of the top. Wipe
rims with a clean damp cloth, and seal jars with lids and rings. Process in a
boiling water canner for 10 minutes, or the amount of time recommended by your
local extension for your area.

Ripe pears.
Peel or not.
Core them.
Blend them smooth.
Add 2/3 - 3/4 cup sugar for each cup of pear pulp.
Cook slowly in a heavy-bottom kettle until thickened a bit, remembering
that it will thicken more when it's cold.
No honey involved; the name comes from the consistency of the finished
product.

Are you going to can it? Process half-pint jars in a boiling water bath
for 5-10 minutes, filling the jars to 1/4" with the hot honey.

I don't know what pear honey is, never heard of it. Does this look

Thanks, Barb! This seems to be the closest thing to
what I had. Although mine had 1 or 2 small amounts of
something else. I'll try this one.

Thanks, but this is not it. Mine was made with the pear
flesh, not just juice.

I wonder if a little lemon or grated fresh ginger would
add nice flavor?

AFAIC, lemon would improve it greatly. I'm not fond of pears and the
fruit honeys are, by their nature (all that sugar to get get the
honey-like consistency) are sweet. It's thicker than fruit syrup.

I made Spiced Peach Honey in August to use up some overripe peaches.
It's good stuff.

FWIW.
