I like this as a flavoring. Do many of you use it? What are some other
seasonings that you like to give flavoring?

MOF, I used it this afternoon in my tourtiere meat. I like it but
rarely use it. I like it on popcorn.

No, I don't use herb mixes but I think my SIL uses it on lamb. My
favorite seasoning for lamb would be garlic, rosemary and lemon.

That works for me. When I do lamb on the gas BBQ I usually smear it with
garlic, rosemary, oregano, lots of salt and pepper and some lemon juice.
A little fresh rosemary goes a long way.

Maybe your idea of a little and my idea of a little is different,
because I think I use a lot and it's not overpowering AFAIC... or
maybe I use so much fresh garlic they cancel each other out. I dunno.
I like that lemon, garlic & oregano mixture on grilled chicken, BTW.

I use it from time to time. I make a dill dip for veggies that had Beau
Monde in it. It is an old family favorite that we have been making since I
can remember.

Beau Monde also makes a good base seasoning for a vinaigrette. We rarely
buy seasoning blends anymore though.

When the dip recipe first became popular, Beau Monde seasoning
had its ingredients on the label: Onion powder, garlic powder,
celery salt. Easy enough to make from scratch.

I am sure. I was about 7 or 8 years old when my older sister (she is
older, and was already married) started making the dip mix for the holiday,
etc. It was rather fashionable in the late 1950's to use a cool item called
"Beau Monde"!! Wasn't that era all about the newness and unique item?
Either way, I still make the recipe exactly as my sister wrote it. We have
always referred to it as "Laurel's finger salad, or dip" I made a fresh
batch about three days ago. We will enjoy it through Christmas.

Hope you have a great Christmas. We are off to Cañon City for the holiday
weekend. We will be on the road by 2PM tomorrow. Will have to shovel the
walks and drives in the morning!! The neighbors are out of town, so I have
two to do.

Later,
Dale P

I thought lavender is part of beau monde or is that something else?

I goggled Beau Monde seasoning since I wasn't familiar with it. Spice
Island says it is a blend of celery, onion and garlic. When I
researched more, I found this recipe. Which is the right one? I was
planning to use it in my Tourtiere as Barb suggested. Rusty from MD

Beau Monde

1 tablespoon ground cloves
1 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon ground bay leaf
1 tablespoon ground allspice
2 tablespoons ground black pepper
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground mace
1 teaspoon celery seed
2 tablespoons ground white pepper

It is commonly in the herbes de provence blend.

Too many sweet spices in the recipe you posted, Rusty. Scary. JMO. I
can't make much taste distinction between Beau Monde seasoning and
celery salt, myself.
