His name is Max, and he is a 5 month old Giant Schnauzer and black Lab mix.
He is going to be a huge dog. I found him in a shelter in a small nearby
farming town. Max had been dumped near a farm. He has been with us now for a
week, and is extremely bright and has been easy to house-train and train to
a lead. He loves to play fetch and Frisbee. Both Jill and I are really glad
we found him.

Thanks; I'll pass on the compliment to Max. The neat thing is, the coat
characteristics remain that of the Giant Schnauzer: virtually no shedding,
no dog 'odor', and extremely easy to care for.

Max is definitely sweet. There is not an agressive bone in his body. He has
no problems with food or object territoriality. And he loves to be around
children and other dogs. Although he thinks cats are fluffy, self-moving
toys :-)

Awww. We had to put down our Lab/Rott mix after nine years. She got
cancer, and one day looked at me with that "Do something" look. She was a
$15 rescue dog, and the best old dog I ever had. We are looking, too, and
at shelters.

Sad to hear that, Steve. That was what motivated us, too. We'd had a large
sheltie for 17+ years when we had to put him down summer before last. We
decided that we were ready for a dog again.

Thank you Janet, that is kind of you to say. For Jill and I, this dog fills
a spot in our home that was missing.

I hope you have great fun with him!

Lin's and my dog is also a rescue.

She's part Staffordshire terrier and part boxer. When people ask what breed
she is, I tell them she's a "Golden Cuddler."
