Default Christmas Eve Raclette

Our daughter-in-law's family spent four years in Switzerland
for her father's job when the girls were in their teens.

As a result, they frequently enjoy a raclette meal. They
prepared it for all of us Christmas Eve.

DIL has a raclette grille, a stone slab sitting above a
heating coil with space underneath it for small individual
pans for melting the cheese.

On the grille we were able to cook sliced sausage
(chicken-apple), small chunks of beef filet, both plain and
in a teriyaki-style marinade. We had real raclette cheese
to melt below.

On the side they served four different dipping sauces,
boiled potatoes, thin-sliced baguette, and cornichons.

Three quarters of the way through the meal, the grille
shut down. We then moved the cooking to the woodstove
and it worked surprisingly well. The engineers in the house
decided it was a thermostat problem. Whatever....

It was a fun meal for the seven of us.

Sounds great. That is what holiday memories are made of. Glad you had a
joyous Christmas eve.

We are going to Mizuna for dinner on Saturday night. I have never been
before, but only hear fantastic things about it. A friend gave me a gift
certificate for the restaurant because of some work I did for her. Good
friends of our will join us an we will celebrate two of us turning 60 in
December.

Later,
Dale p
