I was in the meat section the other day, and they had some big bones, beef,
I believe, that were about 1.5 to 2" diameter outside. They were cut in pieces about as long as they were round. I figure you would use them for making soup stock. Is that right? Any other uses? How about for bird suet? They were pretty cheap. Steve |

In the configuration described they are likely marrow bones. Soup bones would be cut much longer and have some meat on them. Saying they're "pretty cheap: is meaningless without giving a price. |

And funny, but every night before dinner with my grandmother we had "bone" soup. Exactly as described in the post by Janet. We had it every night. Yes we also had it cold and called it consomme and it was served with a bit of lemon juice on it. A real family favorite- both cold and hot! aloha, Cea |
