Here it wil be a kind of homemade kebab, or kabop. I cut some very
thin beef steaks and put them in a marinade of EVO oil, lemon juice,
salt, garlic flakes and dry spices: coriander, thime and ground
black pepper. After one hour I'll sautee it in a wok over high heat,
they don't need no more oil. Sides will be a salad of sliced "ox
heart" tomatoes* and lettuce and a salad of finely sliced fennel
with slice cucumbers (I guess where they're from).

* do "ox heart" tomatoes have a different name in english? Here they

"Heirloom" covers a multitude of tomatoes. Can't say I've seen that
one. We have "beefsteak" tomatoes here. Not as wrinkly.

FBS's birthday is 1/6, so he's bring the kids over for dinner tonight for
his 'birthday dinner'....so we will be having meatloaf, mac and cheese, and
string beans. Followed by birthday cake.
-ginny

btw, I went to the bakery at the grocery store and asked if they had 'Baby's
26th Birthday' cake. Girl was confusssticated.

I had a butternut-garbanzo soup that was so good I ate the whole pot.
Oh, man, total comfort food.

Nice pics! Good depth of field and clarity...

I've not served scallops in awhile. Around here they treat them with
some kind of preservative that's bitter as hell and totally destroys the
taste of the shellfish. :-(

I'm told most cannot taste it, but it's bitter as Aloe to me. <sigh>

I'll only eat them fresh any more, when I can afford them.

Thank you ma'am......... seems I lucked it with the shots this time ;-)

I made waaaaaaaaaaaaay too much (as per usual) and the whole dish would
have fed 8 people, rather than the three that we had.

I don't mind 'next day' prawns and scallops, but the SO will not touch
any, and I didn't want to be eating it for the next 3-4 days, so the pooch
had a nice feed of creamy garlic prawns and scallops with egg pasta.......
slightly warmed, of course. If she's having gourmet food, she likes to
have it warmed :-)

I'll have to get my finger out and do a whole series like you do, with
step by step details.

No luck involved. I've seen too many of your food photos to chalk this
up to luck.

One of these days I might get serious about taking pics and get myself a

Well, when your pooch turns her nose up at *raw* rump steak, and prefers
it char grilled to medium rare, loves nothing more than a wedge of
camembert (I draw the line at giving her any Triple Brie!!) on a cracker
and prefers Kalamata olives with the pips in rather than those green
things...... you know you've got a spoiled dog :-)

And plain old dog food/biscuits???!!! She'd rather starve than eat it... I
have to 'tart it up' with some tasty gravy and bits of tenderloin offcuts
(like I did last night) before she'll even consider sticking her nose in
the bowl!! :-)

Thanks K, I'll just go and have some 'breakfast' and get onto it straight
away ;-)
