Perhaps not at all fitting your as yet unknown wants/needs, but I spent over an hbour at BB&B on Saturday primarily shopping for next seasons Christmas baking gift containers now on sale (or not). Things like the 10x10x5" window top boxes I put cookies and breads in for giving to friends; smaller containers for each of my Marines, etc.. I also found a few kitchen items I know I will use and like, but things I'd never put on an actual shopping list. Just go, and go without an actual specific item purpose! Browse each section to let something call out to you. Look around with an open mind, find just that one Corningware-like dish in the perfect shape or size you don't already have. Get a new set of perfect sized, individual serving size soup bowls or a same type set of freezer containers for single servings or leftovers. The store I went to had good pricing on rolls of the Food Saver to-be-bags in different widths, stock up if you use a FS sealer machine. Or get yourself something you always put off buying. Like the things you always make do with, rather than having a nicer, matching, one-purpose set of something. Think of not a shoppping trip, but plan yourself a sneaky trip just to search for surprises! ....Picky |

For parchment paper, don't buy the supermarket stuff. It's extremely overpriced. Like by about 100 X. I have a $25 box from a resto supply place. 1000 sheets, whole sheet pan size. It doesn't always lay flat, especially when you get to the end of the roll. You want the flat individual sheets. The only downside there is the box they come in is pretty bulky. -- Mort |

Thanks for all the fantastic suggestions, folks. I went to BB&B this
afternoon, and I discovered I'd forgotten my 20%-off coupons, dagnabbit! So, I didn't buy anything today, which is probably all for the best. The store was very crowded and busy, so I did not linger. That store is just to "tight" for a person to shop leisurely when there are so many people and carts. Since I don't often use parchment paper, I wonder if it's still a good buy for me to get such a deal ??? It'll take me a long, long time to use a whole roll that I bought at a local grocery store, and that was probably more than two years ago(?). Still, it's very nice to know that buying parchment paper from a restaurant supply place is a lot less expensive than any grocery or bigbox store! Thanks for the heads-up about that. I use it quite often. FWIW. Thanks, Barb ![]() the best part, eh! I mostly use parchment paper when I infrequently make chocolate ice box cakes in a typical bread loaf pan. Definitely does make for easier removal! The box of parchment paper I bought at the grocery store was a long time ago and it still has a whole lot left of it yet. I also have some of that new Reynolds non-stick aluminum foil that's lasted just as long because it's not often used, too. I don't have the experience to compare these two disparate products. I use wax paper more often than I do parchment or non-stick foil! Sky, who forgot the 20%-off BB&B coupons the other day, dagnabbit! -- Ultra Ultimate Kitchen Rule - Use the Timer!
