The "Law" is nonsense. Nobody has any authority or right to impose any
"Law" on anyone else.

This is taken out of context. The full sentence is, "An it hurt no one, do
what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."

Nope, just pointing out reality.

Nobody anywhere has any authority - period. All this pseudo authority is
based on the threat of violence, nothing more. Understand this fact, and
the insane power struggles in the world are a lot clearer.

There are men and women "elected" to rule a country and write that country's
laws, and they do *have* that authority because the people voted for them.
It's called "representative democracy", and you too live in one.

Basically agree on your thoughts but according to our Constitution the
US is a representative democratic republic not a democracy.

Unfortunately few people seem to have heard about the idea that the
people who are elected are responsible to us not us to them...

Merriam-Webster definition:

"Republic — A state in which the sovereign power resides in a certain
body of the people (the electorate), and is exercised by representatives
elected by, and responsible to, them."

"A democratic republic" is a subset of "a democracy", hence your "not" is
senseless.
Anyway the point is the word "representative", which means that the people
votes someone to represent the people in the administration of the country.

Nobody has a right to elect anyone to impose their rule on anyone.

Again, think about it and realize that this pseudo authority is based on
a threat of violence, nothing more.

"You follow my rule or I'll attack you" is all it boils down to. It's
the same whether it's the US government, the Italian government, the
Taliban, etc., all seek to impose their rule on others with a threat of
violence.

Any government reserves the right to kill you if they have to, just to
collect a $5 parking ticket.

It usually doesn't escalate to that level in one step, but any
resistance or refusal to comply is met with more and more force until
you either give in or the policeman shoots you. HTH :-)

Now you're getting the point. Whenever someone is talking about "the
law" and is challenged on what give it any authority, they generally
come down to some nebulus "moral" argument. Understanding this is key to
understanding the power struggles with Islamists, Christian
fundamentalists, etc. They all thing thier "law" has "moral" authority
and are use this supposed moral authority to justify their violent
actions trying to force their rule on others.

maybe so, but how does 'understanding' this help you in any way? sounds
more like a rationalization to do whatever you want, and **** everybody
else. in short, libertarian rubbish.

It for example helps evaluate the prospects for any sort of negotiation
between the "west" and islamists for example.

Pay taxes, wear clothing, mary the right sex, consume only the "legal"
substances, as i understand it ANY depiction of child sexuality is a
crime, even if sculpted in marble or drawn with a pencil or written
about fictionally.

Now im a believer in the idea that bad rules are better than no rules
but i am disappointed with how they are applied. The rich can work the
system in ways the poor cant. Power corrupts, total power corrupts
totally, or in the case of the modern world builds up so much inertia it
cant address its own injustices due to bureaucratic inertia.
