I finally figured out the concept behind the
bizarre food show _Totally_Vegetarian_, which, of course, specializes in vegetarian food. (However, if you watch it often enough, it becomes quickly apparent that they are actually vegan -- but they don't come right out and say that, so as not to scare you off.) The concept is like the old Jack Benny show or the Bob Newhart show. Host Toni Fiore is the only normal person on _Totally_Vegetarian_, and her co-hosts are obvious freaks. There's DeeDee, the tall, disturbingly thin blonde who doesn't wear a bra (though she hardly has anything that needs protecting) and the emaciated Connie (who I suspect is not only vegan but macrobiotic). I almost wonder whether the meat industry is secretly funding this show, to promote certain stereotypes of vegetarians. |
