KOTO (Know One Teach One) It's the (not as high profile) Vietnamese version of Jamie Olivers '15' restaurant. Founded by a Vietnamese Aussie who, on going back to his homeland saw all these street kids basically begging for their lives, and those of their families. He started by just giving them money, then came up with the idea of "If they had a job, they wouldn't have to be on the street." KOTO started off as a small Cafe/sandwich shop, and is now a 120 odd seat restaurant!! When we 'do Vietnam' in the near future, we're going to bo doing some of the cooking classes at KOTO. http://www.koto.com.au/index.php?opt...=article&id=51 &Itemid=59 http://tinyurl.com/yc4gb4e Namely, the Street Food class, and the Food from the Coast class :-) You can donate to them, or even sponsor a street kid for 24 months so that he/she can become a chef. It's a great idea, and one that Americans and Aussies should get behind. -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia Killfile all Google Groups posters......... http://improve-usenet.org/ http://improve-usenet.org/filters_bg.html |
