I wouldn't eat at Ruby Tuesday anyway. We tried it once -- typical
chain restaurant food, bleah...

Yeah, it's a groaner, dat fo sho...

I skip all those chain places anyway; they seem more for drinking than for
eating and the bar tain't that special neither. The advertising of their
food always makes it sound like a trough, where the pigs can slurp mass
quantities of food. It just don't send me. I rue the times when I'm in a
place where it's either that or dine at the 7-11.

If you're ever in Western WA, near Olympia, this is my favorite
restaurant:

http://news.theolympian.com/dining/r...0010810r.shtml

Never had a bad experience there -- AAMOF, I'll have to get
DH to take me for my birthday in January (hint, hint)... ;-)

I do too, for the most part. I've recently discovered a reletively new one
that's not bad, at least so far. It's called Mimi's Cafe and the food if
pretty good quality for a chain. It's primarily a West Coast chain, but I
understand they've just opened up back East. It's a bit pricier ...not too
painfully... than the Applebees and Chilis, but the food is the real deal.

The first time I went I saw a Cobb salad go by and, not having tried one in
decades, I ordered one too. It was huge! It had all the right ingredients
and they were all fresh and of high quality. Real Blue cheese, Haas
avocados, lean bacon, moist chicken breast, etc. It even had real blue
cheese dressing, not that disgusting ranch crud with blue cheese bits in it
....an abomination that far too many restaurants have been foisting off on
the brain-dead public for far too long. It was light years ahead of those
tiresome old chicken-whatever Caesars that have outlived their trendiness.
It was by far the best meat salad I've enjoyed in years, all for $8.

If you see one, give 'em a try. I'm going back.

Food snob? To pay high prices for franchise food is hardly a matter of
snobbery. I generally make it a rule to avoid any sort of franchise
restaurant, and any meal I have had at one reminds me of the reasons.

They are for sure nothing to write home about, I have eaten there
when I've been at the mall. I can usually find something decent to
eat, soup or salad or something. Definitely not destination type
places.

Back to the original topic, the place that fired the woman for not
fitting into her shirt, the manager was probably some pimply faced
21 year old. I doubt it was company policy. Of course, the stench
of a looming lawsuit is in the air.

They said her shirt did not fit her properly. Maybe she had rolls of fat
hanging out? Buttons ready to pop? I'm not going to boycott anything not

She really didn't look that huge to me. Heavy, yes. But get her a
bigger shirt, for pete's sake. She's a widow with 3 kids, maybe she
is 25 or so. Geez, if I could count the number of guys where I've
worked who had to hide their bulging buttons behind their tie, I'd
break a calculator.

For the first time ever, and only b/c it was a kid's birthday request,
I had dinner (if one would like to call it that) at a Claim Jumper.
Disgusting place. Noisy as hell. Menu from hell. Portions that would
choke a horse. Massive people eating massive meals. The DH and I split
an entree and a salad and still had some left over. Possibly b/c the
food was mediocre and I refuse to waste calories on anything that
isn't "worth" it. With few exceptions (guilty pleasure at PF Chang's
and *blush* Benihana's), I steer clear of chains.

Only been in a Mimi's once - steer clear of the Eggs Benedict. I don't
know what that was, but it wasn't Hollandaise <shudder>

I'm not a waiter and my shirts do fit even if they are a larger size. There
are some jobs I'd probably not fit into. I'd not try out as a model for
Speedo bathing suits for instance.

BUT, I don't know the entire story; nor do you. There may be lot more to
this that we see in one article. I don't like to see anyone get fired, but
I've fired people for just cause many times. Until we know both sides and
the real reason, it is not possible for either of us to make a decision on
right or wrong. It is unfair to boycott any business until you know for sure
the real reason. Once I know, maybe I'll be out with the picket sign.

Fairness. What a concept.
