Coming Feb.. 6. Set your alarm clocks!

Does anyone want to do a bake along too? I still want to make
cinnamon rolls.

Boozapalooza. LOLOL! Good one.

I'm thinking we can only drink so much (with a 3 hour difference from
coast to coast) and baking would give us something to do between
refills since I don't want to be snockered by 4PM.

I actually bought some drumsticks and sausages to BBQ on Saturday,
weather permitting.

I've not made a Margarita in well over a year. Been surviving on Vodka
martinis. <g>

Hmm... some dragon eggs would go well with that, if I feel like making
them.

Oh, NOT!

Also known in Texas as Armadillo turds, but recipes vary so anything
goes:

24 fresh or canned Jalapenos (whole)
3 oz cheddar cheese, shredded
4 oz. cream cheese, softened to room temp
4 oz. Italian Sausage, cooked and broken up
8 strips of bacon, raw and cut into 1/3rd's.

Slice peppers down one side and open up. Remove stems, seeds and
internal veins.

Mix cream cheese, cheddar and sausage. Stuff the cheese and sausage mix
into the peppers, as much as they will hold and still close up.

Take one of the 1/3 strips of bacon and wrap around the pepper and
secure with a toothpick.

Grill until the bacon is done.

Serve.

I thought that may have been a bit 'lame' to have at a drinks party!! :-)

Ahhhhh, that's a better name, and doesn't get confused with the many other
variations of Dragon Eggs ;-)

The recipe sounds interesting, BTW, apart from the cream cheese stuffing.
Maybe fried and seasoned bread crumb mixture, or a rice mixture for me.

No, grilled jalapenos really need the cheese to "cool" them down a bit.
They tend to be a bit hot. ;-)

BTW, this recipe should be prepared wearing gloves for fixing the
peppers for stuffing. They guy that gave me this recipe made that
mistake only once, and paid dearly when he had to go use the restroom
with capsicum coated hands. <g>

I can't participate in the BoozeAlong this weekend (spending the weekend
in trauma...where usually only the patients have imbibed..lol) but I'm
going to offer up a quick tasty drink suggestion my son introduced me to.

Diet Dr. Pepper and Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum.

It surprised me too how tasty it is! He tossed a lime wedge in there
too. Not a fancy drink by any stretch but for a quick mixed drink it
t'aint bad!

I always thought Rum and Coke = Cuba Libra

Diet Dr Pepper and spiced rum have an entirely different fruity taste. IMO.

I think it's the lime that liberates it.

A number of my bar buddies like Jaegerbombs, until recently I'd never tried
them until over the holidaze...they "get you there", if ya know what I mean,
hence their popularity I guess.

One will give you a pleasant buzz, two can easily put you into "I LUV YOU
MAN" territory and a coupla more and yer definitely in the "Sputnik"
realm...and possibly even off course headed to the Asteroid Belt.

One is nice once in a while but on a regular basis I theenk I'm a lil' too
old to imbibe...they give me a headache the next day, too...

I believe the technically correct name for a rum and Dr. Pepper is a
"Biminique".

The lime in a Cuba Libre is optional--my mother spent a good deal of time in
Cuba before it was closed to American tourism and she never used it.

We went to an Asian market today and they had bags of tapioca pearls,
one size looked like small pearls and the small ones were like the head
of a pin. I am wondering if I ever cooked tapioca before...

They had jars and plastic packages of fried garlic and they had a few
packages of fried onions. They looked good enough to eat.

Some people call them dragon turds, but around here they are more
commonly known as Armadillo eggs. Bacon wrapped jalapenos stuffed with
cheese and sausage, then grilled.

I ended up not participating in the boozealong as I spent most of the
day yesterday BBQ'ing chicken, sausage, sweetbreads and rumaki for the
week. I have to get up to go to work for a 12 hour shift at 4pm today
so need to go to bed shortly. It was just not in the stars. :-(

Ps, grilling these is a lot less trouble if you actually stick several
of them on a skewer. Makes them easier to turn en masse. I did that
yesterday with Rumaki and it worked great!

I just bought some "Garlic Snax" yesterday at the grocery store. Freeze
dried fried garlic cloves, lightly salted. Crunchy like potato chips.
They are delicious! A delightful way to eat more garlic for health
reasons. <g>
I just have to make sure I don't eat too many, or eat any before a job
interview...

I'll try the Carrot or Okra chips next. This is getting to be a trend.
Other veggies treated like potato chips for a lower carb, healthier
snack.

I had fried garlic in a salad, it was pretty good.

I have to be careful frying it. Tends to turn out a bit bitter.
I love it roasted tho'. Leaves plenty of garlic flavor without the sharp
bite.
