Default Farberware parts

I have a nice Farberware 18/10 stainless steel - 11 inch saute pan -
T00099. Mega thick bottom.

There is a long handle and a short handle with a single screw, I need a
replacement for the short handle, anyone know of a source. They want me
to send it back and they will give a me a free replacement fry pan but I
fear the replacement will not be the same quality if you know what I mean.

I expect you're correct on the quality. Assuming you don't find a handle
on ebay or something, I'd suggest fabricating a replacement. What is the
current one made of and what is the problem with it?

Pete,

The handle has become fragile from heat but the hole for the screw
simply fell through, nice and clean though and yer right I was thinking
about having the handle milled out so I could just had an over size
washer. This pan is a rock! It would break my heart to think it was in a
dump some where! LOL

I'm not sure but I may be able to get some sort of dremel tool to mill
it out.

I think I'm may send them a letter and ask them to tell me exactly what
model they will give in return, they have a heck of a warranty.

Bakelite or similar phenolic material?

No, far better to use a real mill for that, though if it is bakelite of
similar a Forstner bit in a decent drill press with the part in a vise
would work.

Phenolic materials are a bit abrasive, but can be worked with
woodworking tools, so if you have a friend who is a decent woodworker
you could get a small block of material to fabricate a new handle from.

Go tot he store and look at the present design. If you like what they
have now, send it back. Or at least ask if they will be sending the
identical model. You may even get a better one.

Yes that may well work. I found an Ace Hardware in Charlotte that
carries the short Fitz-All handles. Going into town today to see if they
will work and the description says a single screw hole which this pas is
like that, Wish me luck and i'll post back the results.

Thanks!!!

Mike

Went to the Ace and the fitz-All was too small, this is funny, the
saleman broke the new handle while trying to get it to fit.

Here is a reference for parts. Formerly culinaryparts.com, now merged
with The Gourmet Depot Co. (1-800-424-6783). The email address given is
still valid. Haven't used them, just saved the info just in case...
Supposedly they supply parts for older and discontinued models of many
mnufacturers' products. Good luck. jh
