Even though I am a recent convert to tomato sauce......... but only one. http://www.beerenberg.com.au/go/prod...to-sauce-300ml Then there was a segment on White Castle burgers. *WAY* too much onion. Now onto LA........ Bobs Big Boy in Burbank. |

"tomato sauce" is Australian for "ketchup". I've no idea what they call the substance that Americans refer to as "tomato sauce". Maybe they don't have it, since it's just diluted tomato paste, for the most part. Cindy Hamilton |

Well, that's pretty clearly wrong. Not everybody lives in the US, and even in countries that share the same basic language (English in this case), the words don't always have exactly the same meaning. And there's even people in the world who don't use English as their principal language! -- Dan Abel Petaluma, California USA |

You can even get the crispy cheese as a side. Also recommend the Grape Nut ice cream while you're there. |

Wiki again fails to account for regional differences. Louis Lunch is located in New Haven, CT, USA. The forbidden condiment there is not called anything else but ketchup. Red sauce? Tommy sauce, dead horse? Maybe other places, long long ago, but not there, not now. |

They specifically ban ketchup , by name, and mustard. |

OK, I have it bookmarked (Louis Lunch) and I will make a visit there asap with my superior knowledge of cheeseburgers, and my camera ![]() fill you all in. On another note, somebody here noted a lunch outfit in Meridan CT that was also featured on TV, I have lost that link and would appreciate if someone would repost it. Thanks, Scotty |

Hartford on your outing. Is that on Burnside Ave? I thought they closed down a while back. But if they are still there, I will. Right across from Pratt and Whitney there is a nice fish joint and there was always the little diner right up route 5 too, near the South Windsor border but I will stick to burgers for this one. Over the summer I will make a run down route 1 for the fish houses... This could turn into a long weekend with a lot of burgers... My trainer is gonna' kill me.. Scotty Scotty |

Yup, used to be a White Castle right downtown on the green by the arch. Just down the street from the train station and my all time favorite (long ago gone) The Chicken Coop which was stuffed right under the train tracks. They had the best Chicken ever, we used to stop there every Sunday on the way home from Church. Scotty |

Maybe we should have our own private club. :-) Becca ObFood: Buttermilk Pancakes Dry ingredients: 2 cups flour 2 tablespoons sugar 4 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon baking soda 1 teaspoon fine salt Wet ingredients: 2 cups buttermilk 4 tablespoons melted butter 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 2 beaten eggs Combine dry ingredients in a bowl, whisk together. Combine wet ingredients in a second bowl, whisk, then add the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Let sit for 10 minutes before you begin cooking. Note: My mother used to say that husbands were like pancakes, you always throw the first one out. If you let the batter sit for a few minutes, your first pancake will turn out just fine. |

I wonder what is up with my newsreader. I use individual.net. Becca ObFood: Blackstrap Gravy (wonderful on meatloaf) ketchup Dijon mustard brown sugar Worcestershire sauce molasses beef broth Mix all ingredients except for the beef broth. Taste and make any adjustments in the ingredients. Slowly add beef broth until you get the right consistency. Serve over your meatloaf, pork roast, etc. |

Becca Ob Food: Coconut Pralines 3 cups sugar 2 1/2 cups grated coconut 1 cup milk 1 tbsp butter Combine the sugar, coconut and milk in a heavy pot and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil, stirring, until the mixture comes to the soft-ball stage (about 239 degrees on a candy thermometer). Remove from the heat, add the butter and beat until the mixture begins to sugar. Drop in small mounds on wax paper. Cool, then gently lift with a thin knife. Store in an airtight container. |
