Nice picture, but I'm wondering if you posted the public link because
I had to sign in. One of these days I'll make some Arroz Valenciana
and post it here.

Looks good but where's the arroz? It looks tasty but soupy. I can
see that you need to learn how to judge the correct ratio of liquid to
rice... not so easy to do as it sounds... try to get a feel for it,
there truly is no recipe.

I got right in, no signing in. Perhaps your link was broken, it looks

What happened?, I thought that anyone could view the pic if I used the
direct like and I set up that album as open for anyone to view, let me
know if Google requires a sign in and I will take my public pics to some
other pic site.

It wasn't done cooking yet in the pic and was moist but not desert dry.
My wife ripped me a new A-hole for having wet rice! It sure is difficult
but I'm working on it. I challenged her to make the same recipe and
show me it can be done, she can do plain rice, dry as a desert but there
is horrible black burn on pan bottom and then it tastes smoky so that
isn't good either. But then the electric burner is total sh-t as far as
I'm concerned. It's her stove but I'm going to install my gas range once
I dig the friggin trench myself to run new gas lines (damn house on slab!)

In Cuba arroz con pollo can be either somewhat dry or fairly soupy
depending on your tradition and preference. Some families always do
it one way, others like it both ways. They even have a name for the
soupy kind, "asopao." One Cuban cookbook recipe gives a ratio of six
cups liquid to two cups rice. -aem

Nope, tried it. If I'm not signed into iGoogle or gmail, I have to
sign into Picasa.

Apparently it does. I tried Om's direct link without being signed
into iGoogle or gmail and had to sign into Picasa. Not that I'm
against Google <G> or anything... I just hadn't noticed that behavior
before.

I have nothing against using converted rice. Have you tried that? It
won't get wet or mushy on you.

she ate what I made a tiny bit of seconds, so I'm not going to start
with converted. I did forget one of her tricks which is after the water
is gone, mound the rice, then cover, I didn't mound it.

If you have, Google has most likely lodged a cookie somewhere on your

I think you're right. Dan is the one with something on his computer,
not me. I've set FF to dump all cookies when I close it.

That wouldn't work for me. I don't touch rice after the water
evaporates, it doesn't dry out enough for me if I do. Haven't you
noticed that it needs those air vents in it to dry properly? That's
one reason why converted rice works better for me when I make things
like jambalaya... because I've got too much stuff in it and I'm moving
it around too much for it to behave properly for me.

Nope. No gmail, and I don't even know what iGoogle is.

I set my FF that way also. And I just manually cleared *all* cookies
and tried the link above. Worked perfectly.

It's a mystery!

According to Picassa, this is the public Gallery. I closed my browser,
started a new session and did not have to sign in? Hm...

Something to do with Cookies, methinks.

Sf dumps all her cookies after each session, so she's effectively visiting
'old' websites for the first time each day.

OK, so I cleared out every living single and completely everyone of my
google cookies on two different browsers (Chrome and IE8) and guess
what? Every time the picture showed up without having to sign in, oh and
i also signed out of all my google accounts prior to deleting all cookies.

It was soooooooooooo delicious and easy!!! I've always loved 'Spanish
Rice', even the old one in Better Homes and Gardens, This is going to be
a once a month dish for me. But, I'm going to start incorporating brown
rice into it, next time split the rice 1/3 brown and 2/3 white.

SF
I'm inherently lazy so I'll try just leaving it alone next time, I was
following the recipe which said stir up a tiny bit after water is gone
trying to be a good little cook. I do know that a lot of Puerto Ricans
traditionally mound up after most of water is gone but then Wife says
that it can be done both ways.

Not sure what happened (twice) before. Today it came up just fine
without needing to sign in.
