Default Cooking for One - Judith Jones

I attended a great talk today at this retirement community. Judith
Jones, senior editor at Alfred Knopf in New York City, paid us a
visit. She was personally responsible for the publishing of Julia
Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking". She was also a
personal friend of James Beard and Craig Claiborne, and acquainted
with other food experts.

Her philosophy about cooking is"relax and enjoy it" and don't worry
because something isn't perfect.

She and our dining services manager (a Culinary Institute of America
(CIA) graduate) demonstrated a couple of recipes and passed out
samples of a cheese soufflé and Schrafft's butterscotch cookies.

It was a great afternoon - and yes, Christine! - I bought her book,
"The Pleasures of Cooking for One". Proceeds go to the benevolent
fund here.
It was the best two or three hours I've spent in quite a while.

I listened to a podcast of the talk she gave at an author event at the
Philadelphia Free Library a few months ago. She was very interesting and
engaging. Great 'Julia' stories.
