It depends on how well the thyroid supplements work. I'll refer you to my endocrinologist that put me on beta blockers because the T4 supplement raised my heart rate. Her name is Dr. Elizabeth Ritchie in New Braunfels Texas. -- Peace! Something that isn't absorbed, as you claim to be "the problem", cannot damage your kidneys. it has to be absorbed from the digestive tract into your blood in order to even reach your kidneys. |

You do know that she's correct to a point, your body takes what it needs and the rest is expelled. So say you only need to top up the vitamin, you might intake 10% and expell 90%, basically expensive pee. I don't have to tell anyone that vitamins are very expensive. |

Anyone who actually takes medical > advice off of usenet... > > Well, it's their risk! Doctors are not deities from on high. They are human beings with all the same faults and foibles as the rest of us. Having said that, I tend to trust most doctors, but with a measure of healthy skepticism. In the case of my heart "episodes", it was me that figured it out, not any one of a half dozen physicians I saw over the period of two years. In another well documented case I'm very familiar with, a fairly young man nearly died, despite being treated at the Mayo Clinic. They couldn't figure out what was wrong with him. He got on the web and working day and night --he was literally at death's door, at that point!-- finally diagnosed his own illness and told the docs. They treated him accordingly and he's now just fine. I'm not saying all doctors are all knowing or you shouldn't trust them, I'm just saying it pays to be fully involved in what is happening to yourself and be as much informed as you can possible be. There's no such thing as too much information. I will make one generalization about doctors. If I run across one that doesn't think he needs to listen to what I have to say or dismisses my concerns, I'm outta there. ![]() nb |
