Default Hydrolized vegetable protein

Hello All!

A good vegetable flavor enhancer, used in soups, sauces, chilis, stews,
hot dogs, gravies, seasoned snack foods, dips and dressing is to be
recalled for a risk of salmonella poisoning:

Sorry to add to my own post but I wonder if Bragg's Liquid Aminos which
is obtained from hydrolized proteins is included? This "does not contain
MSG" but has glutamate ions from the proteins.

Trying to work out how the putative contamination could have happened.
It's a harsh process, so no viable bacteria should be left. Guessing
it's post-processing contamination.

Ow! I regret to see that some McCormick's and Trader Joe's products are
on the list.

from the site you posted:

The manufacturer of the affected product is Basic Food Flavors Inc. in Las
Vegas. Only HVP manufactured by Basic Food Flavors is involved in this
recall. This is the first recall with this ingredient.

i get the feeling (just from bragg's packageing, etc. - reminiscent of dr.
bronner's, really) that they'd be unlikely to be using 'corporate' food
ingredients. i wouldn't fret too much.

your pal,
blake

"HVP is manufactured by a Las Vegas company."

(But we're not going to say who it is because they paid us hundreds
of thousands of dollars for advertiusing time)
