However, I think there's a rather a bit of difference between tomato 'sauce' and tomato 'paste,' eh? ;D Can't say as I've ever seen tomato 'sauce' packaged the way Koko referenced; I've always seen the stuff in cans or jars. We can now get various herbs in tubes. I thought that might be a viable alternative for cilantro when I only need a small amount and don't want to pay for a bunch and then have 1/4 got to waste. Last week I went to pick some up, thinking it was about $2 per tube, but I got to the checkout and was stunned to discover it was $5.89. I took it back and got a bunch of fresh. I wish that they still carried the frozen cubes. They were pretty good. Not as good as fresh, but much cheaper than the tubes. |

I have found some fascinating stuff in the mideastern section at Fiesta Mexican Market. :-) Including canned Dolmas and canned grape leaves so I can make my own. A nice variety of Olives too, and the large capers. -- Peace! A nice variety of Olives too, and the large capers. I was being neutral. I haven't seen a Mexican grocery with a Middle East section here. Maybe I traveled outside the City I could find one, but there are no Middle Eastern sections in the Mexican groceries where *I* shop. They have Asian/Chinese/Vietnamese/Thai, not Middle Eastern or Indian. -- I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food. |
