Meat pies..... actually.... leftover red wine casserole pies, with
homemade sour cream pastry for the bottoms. Here's the rolled out SCP ready for cutting, with the pie moulds next to it........ http://i44.tinypic.com/nmnwwk.jpg And here they are ready for 'blind baking'... http://i44.tinypic.com/v8ehjd.jpg The filled cases, a couple with their puff pastry tops........ http://i43.tinypic.com/122j4t1.jpg Just out of the oven....... http://i40.tinypic.com/so34vk.jpg And ready for the rest of the sides to go on, a sour cream mash, and some steamed broccoli, cauliflower, and corn. http://i44.tinypic.com/2njliyd.jpg Next time, I'll double the pastry quantities and use it for the tops as well. Here's the recipe for the pastry...... http://www.abc.net.au/tv/cookandchef/txt/s1878855.htm -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. I like that you posted the burnt dribbles. Thanks. But it is a shepard's pot pie kinda deal, right? Thickened soup in a crust. I like the puff. B |

They were pretty good for a 'throw together' :-) Someone posted recently that they had to use leftover casserole, or sumsuch. It was then I remembered the leftover red wine casserole in the outside beer fridge..... and that the SO *loves* Maggie Beers sour cream pastry. > Thanks for the photos and the recipe. > My pleasure. If you give the pastry a whirl, let me know what you think. It's totally different in texture to most other pastry's we've had, and has a nice flavour too. -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing. Edible...... and tasty :-) The sour cream mash when impeccably with it...... and I hid the sauce bottle from the SO as she did *think* about using it, but agreed it was better without :-) -- Peter Lucas Brisbane Australia All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.
