Default Has anyone seen canned pumpkin out there?

I have scoured my markets and nada. Maybe that predicted shortage
last year was not a hoax.

I'll look, but canned pumpkin isn't high on my shopping list this time
of year. There was plenty of canned pumpkin on the shelves here when
they were talking about it in rfc a few months ago.

We've got a few cans in the cupboard, so we haven't shopped for any. I
dunno why my roomie gets canned pumpkin. We hardly ever make pumpkin
pies, though I might make it a project for tonight.

Don't overlook the possibility of curried pumpkin soup. <G>

I've seen pumpkin in the store, but it seems to be VERY expensive right now.

I've seen it. Maybe your store only stocks it for the holidays?

Kris, who LOVES to make pumpkin bread out of it...

As an aside ...........

I use canned pumpkin to give to my dogs. They like it, and it helps them
with mmmmmmmm, I'll call it irregularity. It is an old animal treatment.

BUT, I can NOT find any small cans. And it is very difficult to find it
without spices in it. At least in my neighborhoods.

So, I buy the big cans and freeze small bags of it.

I haven't shopped for any in a while, having some in the freezer.

Have you checked both the canned vegetable section and the pie filling
section? Might be in either place. I just saw both the canned pumpkin and
pumpkin pie filling in the store this last week.

I bought several cans last week. The canned squash was with the other
vegetables, but the pumpkin was on a different aisle with the baking
goods, next to the canned pie filling.

As far as I know, the shortage was last year, not this year.

I have no problem finding it in various different supermarkets.

Back home in Italy we had canned pupkins that would make yours look
like an antique.

By the time Thanksgiving rolled around in 2009, there was pumpkin
aplenty on all the supermarket shelves....

Or pumpkin muffins.

We used to have an ice cream parlor that had pumpkin ice cream every
fall. (Now several people will probably chime in to say that pumpkin
ice cream is nothing unusual.)
