and talk about cooking. Do not feed the trolls.
Politics is politics, and no matter how it goes, everyone is not going to be happy. I get enough of this shit in the real world, and I come here for a respite. Steve |

Killfiles are a way to avoid a lot of annoying crap. I just wish that people wouldn't bother responding to the people who I filter so that I don't end up seeing their nonsense second hand. Obama can thank the idiocy of his predecessor and the insanity of his opponent's VP wannabe. |

Ahem, Dave - how the heck are the other posters here supposed to guess which posters you have filtered? And, no... I have no intention of creating a section on the RFC site entitled, "Who has killfiled whom?" ;-) -- Cheers Chatty Cathy |

Well, that is a bit of a problem isn't it, since I have posted that is is inappropriate to brag about who you killfile. I have filters for spam and I have to admit that I accidentally filtered Joseph Littleshoes, but that was because of all the spam about shoes. That has been rectified. There is the "Idiots" filter, which has the names of four people who are particularly obnoxious, along with one person who became increasingly annoying by keeping track of the number of posts on a particular thread trying to get it to hit 1,000. Then there is another filter dedicated to one particular name, which eliminates him, his name shifts and his stalkers. > And, no... I have no intention of creating a section on the RFC site > entitled, "Who has killfiled whom?" Wise move. Some people claim to actually enjoy some of the people who I have filtered. That is enough to diminish my opinion of those people, just as seeing who they have filtered might diminish it even more. |

And how do you propose ppl can know in advance who you (and every other similar person) doesn't want to see via a reply? You're the type who simply isn't suited to Usenet. It's not designed to be moderated, and hopefully it never will be. (yes, I am aware that there are *some* moderated Usenet groups - but they don't count ![]() > Obama can thank the idiocy of his predecessor and the insanity of his opponent's > VP wannabe. I'll make the simple conclusion here and correct that. The single most effective filter lines I have are the ones that count the number of crossposts and kill articles that are posted to too many groups. I also have a long list of abusive posters who don't crosspost. |
