Default OK.....THIS time I remembered the coupons.

I'm going grocery shopping on my way home from work so I don't have to
go this weekend....and
I remembered my list and coupons this time!!! I really don't like
to go grocery shopping on the way
home from work because I'm usually really hungry and I buy stuff I
shouldn't because of it.

Head for the produce section first, and don't be ascared to taste
everything. LOL

Hey now, I only ever taste grapes before purchasing them, and I only
taste ONE! I'm not about to drop a few bucks on sour grapes, and there
is no way to tell without tasting. All other fruits, I can tell by look,
feel and/or smell whether or not they are ripe. Even mom did that and
taught me most of what I know about picking other fruits.

My sister has always envied me my ability to always pick perfect melons
(including Cantaloupes) and perfectly ripe, not over-ripe avocados...

Hmmm... Think I may start a separate thread on picking the perfect
fruit. :-) Then again, maybe not. We've done it before.

If you are planning to buy deli, ask for a taste of whatever you are
buying. My markets gladly give a slice if you ask for it to see if you
like it (or if it's fresh enough). A slice of turkey, ham, or whatever
and a slice of cheese will be just enough of a "snack" to take the
edge off hunger and keep you from buying everything in the store. And
it's protein, so it should last awhile.

Never thought of that. Thanks. But no mind, I just toughed it out
and didn't deviate from my list!!

Smart arse that I am, I have an iPhone app called Harvest. It's a
guide on how to select and store fruits and vegetables, it even gives
the pesticide residue levels. By the way, asparagus has low pesticide
residue levels. ;-)

I don't remember a picking the perfect fruit thread, I think it would
be interesting.

I'm glad to hear that! Asparagus is my #1 favorite vegetable. Artichokes
come in a close second!

Ok. I'll pick that up later tonight then and go into detail how I pick
my most common purchases. Right now I need to quit playing around and
go clean the back porch and the litter boxes, and check my cockatoo's
food and water.
