Today is a lazy dinner day. Dinner will be a burger with swiss cheese. If
I feel inspired I might saute some button mushrooms and turn it into a mushroom-swiss burger ![]() set my mother gave me 20-something years ago to form and freeze hamburger patties. I knew this would come in handy one day! Ah yes! Get beef ground in bulk, then form and freeze into patties, stored neatly sealed and stacked in the freezer. <G> I'll bake some of the Publix (store) brand skinny "fast-food style" fries to go with the burger. They turn out crispy outside and tender inside. They're as good as any fries McD's ever made, except they're baked, not deep fried. Jill |

For some reason she had tons of those and also of onion rings. Here, when they're freshly made, they're called "scattered" fries. I call them "home fries". They aren't shredded or formed into patties. But what I'm cooking tonight are truly fast food french fry style fries. Long skinny strips of potatoes. Frozen, yes, but they come out nice and crispy. The burger is the main thing, of course. I love swiss cheese on a burger ![]() Jill Jill |

Yesterday we went to see a movie (Training/Dragon) and afterwards went to Bobby's Burger Palace. This time I got a Miami burger. So good. I got onion rings with that. This are some massive onion rings, you get 4 of them. Pretty good, especially as mosty onion rings aren't very good at all. Also had a vanilla malted, to die for! nancy |

Believe it or not, we had burgers a couple of nights before ... ones that we hand ground for the first time using this manual grinder. They were great but that was a chore. That's why I'm expecting a new electric grinder to show up in a couple of weeks (they're backordered). I like your grilled onions. I like to saute some onions and mushrooms to have on hand for burgers and steaks during the summer. nancy |

Here's what I was referring to: Combine equal parts of: Light rum Bacardi Select Captain Morgan Bacardi Limon Fris Vodka Blue Curacao Bacardi 151 cranberry pineapple Ruby Red Grapefruit guava orange juice sour mix grenadine In a suitably-large vessel, put a couple teaspoons of water, then put a chunk of dry ice. (The water will freeze, which will "glue" the dry ice to the bottom of the vessel, preventing it from floating.) Pour combined liquids over the dry ice and serve with a straw immediately. The drink is not all that far removed from a Hurricane. Bob |
