Are you looking for an original first edition or any edition? Volume 1,
Volume 2 or both? The two volume boxed set was reprinted in December and
can be had at Barnes & Noble online for just over $50 (and ships in time for
Easter). I've seen Volume 1 sold individually at Target for $28. Just saw
it last night, actually, but I wasn't looking for it so didn't notice if
Volume 2 was there as well.

Timing is everything. I donated my 2 volume set to the public library
right before we moved 2 weeks ago, along with a bunch of others that I
hadn't used in ages. I figured, if I hadn't used it in 2 years, I
wasn't likely to do so. OTOH, if you live in Orange County CA, I can
point you to the library that got it.

$26 for the 2-Vol set at Costco. It comes and goes. I've seen it
off and on there for 2 years.

Only twice the price that CostCo has been selling it for.

I've looked at it, but I just can't justify buying it. I'm not that
thrilled about French cooking, unless it's Vietnamese. Which you
won't find in any French cookbooks.

Similarly, I'm not thrilled about Portuguese cooking, unless it's Goan.

I guess this sounded kinda stupid if you've never heard of
French-Vietnamese cuisine. French Vietnamese restaurants some of the
most popular restaurants around. They are more Vietnamese than
French (The French learned more from the Vietnamese then the other
way around).

I went through my cookbooks the other day. Along with a 1936 Watkins Spice
recipe book (notice NOT cookbook), I did find a Julia Child Mastering The
Art Of French Cooking. I would not have thought anything about it, but I
did see the movie, and thus had a little better handle on the book, which
had I not seen the movie, would have pitched into the yard sale pile.

Ah. Julia Child. Meryl Streep. Dan Akroyd. And I was there to witness
history as it was originally telecast.

True, if you have a Costco membership. I didn't do much research on
new sets so don't know how Amazon.com compares.

My wife bought the first Julia Child's French cooking book and to be
honest we haven't used that many recipes out of it. Now that the kids
are married and moved out, it's difficult to scale down many of the
recipes to just two servings.
