(Charleston area). I was thinking of a gift card for my hostess. Or, what is the major grocery chain? Thanks. |

Plenty of Publix stores there- http://store.publix.com/publix/cgi/s...ng=en&mapid=US My son just moved to Charleston so I'll be visiting there frequently too. Yay!! I had even researched where the Navy commissary was thinking I'd want to help him stock his kitchen (when he finally rents an apartment). It turns out his employer feeds him breakfast and lunch so I don't think he's going to need Mom fretting over him eating. <whew!> |

Historic location, super wine collection, a really nice store. pavane |

I shop at Publix. But another grocery store prevalent in SC is Food Lion. I can only tell you the one near me is old and looks rather dingy. Not dirty, just an old store badly in need of a face lift ![]() on the quality of anything they sell. It's just not very inviting. But I'm told some of the Food Lion stores in other areas around Beaufort are quite nice. So perhaps the ones in Charleston would be, too. Suggestion: you might discreetly inquire of friends/family of the hostess if you know them where she prefers to shop and go from there. I think the idea of a gift card is nice ![]() Enjoy your visit! I'll be in Mt. Pleasant (just north of Charleston) within the next week but not for anything pleasant. My cat, Persia, has to have radioactive isotope therapy for hyperthyroidism. (sigh) Jill |
