Yessiree, Bob, I've had a Jucy Lucy. At Matt's. I've no interest in
sampling what the 58 Club offers. Rob and I went to Matt's several
months ago -- football season, I think. And on a Saturday afternoon at
2:00 p.m. we got the last table in the joint. Matt's is a popular spot
‹ a neighborhood bar. I don't even know if they serve hard liquor or
just beer.

Are they good? Sure. An inside-out cheeseburger. One is always warned
of the molten temp of the cheese when it's served.

I've been to both and Matt's wins hands down. I live about 5 minutes from
the 5-8, but the 30 minute drive to Matt's is worth it!

I had to go and have a look at this, had to see what an "inside out
cheeseburger" is, so watched the videos........ and guess what??

Apparently, I've been making "Jucy Lucy" burgers here in Oz for about 30
odd years!!

I used to make rissoles, which I then flattened to patties on the BBQ, and
people would put them either on a bun, or between some bread, with cheese
and all the fixin's.

One day after a party the night before, I had some rissoles left over, and
didn't particularly want to taste the 'raw' cheese on the burger, so I
melted the cheese on top of the pattie, and then put in the burger.

From there it was a very simple step (in the mind of a kitchen demon), to
get *two* rissoles and flatten them right out, and put the slice of cheese
in between and cook them up.

Damn!! If I'd just patented the idea!!

Cool. Matt's looked better to me. The one at the 58 Club looked like there
was way too much cheese in it for the amount of meat...
