Saturday I needed to go to LA area to meet with my accountant to have my
taxes done. Fortunately the 4 hour drive each way was well worth the effort as his office is across the street from one of my traditions. Many many years ago when my Russian grandmother learned I lived close to this sausage joint she asked me to pick up a pound of Veal Bologna along with some head cheese IIRC. Veal Bologna? I had no idea there was such a thing. Well there certainly is and OMG is it delicious. If you are ever in the area please do yourself a favor and visit This little German Meat Market/Sausage/smoke house. Needless to say there's a pound of the same veal bologna in the fridge right now calling to me. The other 1/2 pound was my lunch on the road. :-) Here is where to go/look: http://schreinersfinesausages.com/ Enjoy and remember if we're in there at the same time you owe me your lower number 'cause I told you about the place. -- Dimitri Chicken Loaf http://kitchenguide.wordpress.com. |

They show up at my local farmer's market but I've not tried their stuff before. Now that I know something about them, I will..... -aem |

They are in Northern Glendale at the intersection "Y" where Ocean View & N. Verdugo meet. It's called Glendale IMHO it's Montrose. Schreiner's Fine Sausage 3417 Ocean View Blvd. Glendale, CA 91208 |

OMG, Big D, they're Marketplace farmer's market on Saturdays from 8 - 12. I'm on it! Veal bologna, huh? I think I see a sausage smorgasbord dinner in our future! Thanks, Dimitri! Just remember that 98.6 degrees isn't a proper cooking temperature for sausage, so you'll either have to **** yourself with it faster to increase the friction, or use some other method of heating it up.
